Lykomigod securitah!

I think I may have caused a major scare at Halifax Online Banking this evening.

When attempting to login to the service, I found I had forgotten my
username and password. So I attempted to use the Forgotten Details
feature, but was told that I had been sent an access code (which I
had), and could not be sent another one. Or something like that.
Anyway, that's the background...
So, I go back to the login screen, guess at a username (which I
sometimes use), entered a password which I thought I probably would
have used on signup, and answered the security question.
Success! ... Or so I thought. I was now being presented with a screen
asking for my access code. So I type it in. And it sends me back to
the login screen.

Thinking I've made a simple typo, I do it again. Same result. I try
again, typing the code more slowly. Same again. And agin. I even tried
a different password.
Anyway, after something like six tries in all, I get a message saying
that I've attempted to use an incorrect access code too many times,
and so my account has been suspended, and I should phone them up for
it to be sorted.

So I phone. Anyway, to cut a long story short, looks like it was NOT
my username that I had been using. Even though I had managed to get
through to the next stage, as if my login had been successful.

And there you go. I managed to have someone else's account locked, due to their lack of security. What a joke.

My friend always told me never to trust a black man...
