Political Correctness really HAS gone 'mad'

Yes yes, I know it's Christmas Day and I'm online, but I have just read this interesting article on BBC News Online.

It seems that a museum in Somerset decided that 'BC' (Before Christ) dating on their artefacts could offend some people, and so changed BC to BP, which apparently stands for 'Before the Present'.

No pun intended, but Christ. Just ... Christ. I don't even know what to say to that one. Christ.

Get to the bottom of the story before you start passing judgement. They have not replaced BC with BP, they've simply used an alternative system only when it's been impossible to give a precise date, where they've used carbon dating. It may not be standard in museums but it makes sense.

Aha, interesting. I had not seen that original article, many thanks. I stand corrected. :)
