Rebranding the EU

From BBC News -

Europe Minister Geoff Hoon has admitted the EU has "an image problem" and must convince people in the UK that it "makes a difference to their lives".

The leaders of the 25 EU nations are meeting to discuss the direction they will take in the coming year.
Mr Hoon said people did not understand how events in Brussels affected them.

This is laughable, at best. In my experience, those who actually have an opinion of the EU do tend to "understand how events in Brussels affected them", and they know that "it makes a difference to their lives". But the bit which Hoon, and his 'new' Labour co-conspirators still fail to grasp is that that effect is almost entirely negative.
