After I reported on that crash (Monday), it now appears that the offending vehicle was being pursued by the police. The driver (although it is unclear present as to whether this is the reason he was being chased) was uninsured and disqualified.

The passenger of the hit-car, a 71-year old woman, died as a result of the incident.

The IPCC are now investigating the chase.
