It's so shockingly simple, I'm surprised that none of the protestors themselves have worked it out. Well, ok, I'm not, since they're all stoned pisshead hippies. But I digress.

 

Why will they fail then? Well, two reasons really. One, they're pissing off the media by not letting them have access to the campsite (on a field which they have occupied illegally, I gather). If, as they claim, their primary objective is to raise public awareness and concern over the actually rather serious issue of climate change, then it's a really fucking stupid idea to piss off the press (particularly TV journos) - the number one way in which the public become aware of these issues. What's the point in saying something, if you've got no way of getting it across to people?

 

Second is probably even more basic. If you piss people off, particularly by stopping them head away on holiday, they're not going to be pleased in the fucking slightest. In fact, further than that, they're going to be really really pissed and hostile to you, and by association your cause. It's basic human instinct. It'll be more contempt and indignation than sympathy.

 

And aside from that, they're pretty much preaching to the converted.
