UK "hacker" to be extradited

It has been announced that British "hacker", Gary McKinnon, will be extradited to the United States to face trial over damage which he supposedly caused whilst "exploring" US computer systems.

Mr. McKinnon is supposed to have spent almost 2 years gaining unauthorised entry into computer systems in the US, particularly those owned by the US military, in what he calls a search for "suppressed technology". (Alien gadgets, to you and me.)

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I condone the actions of Mr McKinnon - however much I may be interested in what they could have potentially unearthed - but he has been totally sold out by our Government. There is no reason at all why his trial could not take place in the UK, and even less reason why it should take place in the US! He's a British man having committed a crime from British soil. It's ridiculous.

He probably will end up accused of terrorism and plotting bombings and other such crap and locked up by the US, who are complete idiots, frankly.

I despair, I really do.

More ID card secrets

It appears that the Government is now trying to hide what the real benefits of its ID card scheme actually are.

The freedom of information watchdog ordered the Department of Work and Pensions to publish its findings about how the cards could fight ID fraud.
Now the department has decided to appeal against the information commissioner's ruling.

This is just absolutely shocking (what's new?), but of course nothing will happen. No one will take any notice, and they'll continue to get away with their arse-raping of the UK.

I can't emphasise enough how angry I am about all of this. When will the British people WAKE THE FUCK UP and realise how much their Government is screwing them over?!
The whole country seems to revolve around the lunacy of pornews rag The Sun, and its pro-Labour lies, and the commoners of this country (whom they control) are ultimately responsible for voting this bunch of jokers into power time and time again. They must be having such a fucking laugh at us from behind their closed doors, whilst they suck the coffers, morals and general sensibility of our country dry.

It is time that people wake up and demand the impeachment of Blair and his cronies once and for all. Every day now there is more lunacy and sleaze being uncovered, and as good as no one is saying - let alone doing - a single thing about it. I really am losing what little faith I had in humanity.

Good Lord this is wrong

It is 00:29am (BST). It is also 29°c.

Twenty-nine freaking degrees. At this time of night. It's just so wrong. Somebody, please, help me.

There's never a crazed lunatic holding the world to ransom by blocking out the sun when you need one, is there?

St. George to go

I can't even believe that this is real, but it seems that certain Bishops of the Church of England are actually seriously going to propose the replacement of St. George with St. Alban as our country's patron saint. And all because George might offend Muslims?!
What utter bollocks. When was the last time they took our feelings into consideration? They place the race card and get too much special treatment as it is.

The Church should be absolutely ashamed of itself. Do they have a purpose anymore anyway? With this kind of thing going on, it's fairly obvious that they really don't represent anyone. They continuously prove how out of touch they are with people. Is it a wonder that congregation sizes are falling?

(Highly unlikely that any of this will ever actually come to anything of course, but it's the principle of it. Total, utter madness.)

Scottish hilarity

I've been reading through the numerous pages of comments regarding this BBC News article about Conservative plans to restrict Scottish MPs from voting on 'English-only' issues, and I have to say, many of them are hysterical, to say the least. Some of the most common 'points' made are that Scotland is the one subsidising England with its oil; Scotland could quite happily be independent; England has been imposing its will on Scotland for centuries and now the tides have turned; and even that Scottish MPs should definitely have a vote since it is money derived from Scottish oil which things are funded by.

Well, I've a few points to make.

Firstly, a large amount (by some accounts around 80%) of "Scottish oil" is actually in English waters. It is only considered Scottish because under the Union, maritime borders have been modified. Therefore, should Scotland ever gain independence, the original, true maritime borders would be restored and with it the ENGLISH oil. And even if that oil really was Scottish, it's nearly all gone! Someone else said that Scotland has 50% as much land as England has, and 10% the population, so could quite easily provide for itself. I wonder if this person has seen the weather and terrain in much of Scotland?!

With regards to "England imposing its will on Scotland for centuries" I really am not sure where to begin.
I suppose the best starting point would be that King James VI of SCOTLAND formed Great Britain in the first place. Then of course, it's not English MPs imposing their will on Scotland. It's British MPs imposing their will on Scotland, and indeed on the rest of Britain (or the UK if we're including Ireland in the mix)! The Scots are so self-centred and immature on this particular aspect of the issue that they actually seem to believe that the whole of the rest of Great Britain is of one opinion and they another.
Many have cited the Poll Tax as a primary example of English will being imposed on the poor little opressed Scots before the rest of the country, but as one observant reader commented, it was introduced in Scotland first in order to prop up their councils, who were suffering from a rates strike!

As for the rest of it, there's really not much I can say. The Scots are proving themselves to be exactly what they believe the English think that they are - sub-standard, stupid, unworthy, immature... (Well, you get the point anyway.) Just like the Muslims, they really do themselves no favours. They just have this rationally inexplicable hatred of the English, and seem to think it's reciprocated! It's just so laughably pathetic.

I think that this frankly quite brilliant comment sums up their whole attitude rather well, and puts it in a bit more perspective:

"Let the Scots have their independance and see just how far whisky, wooly jumpers and shortbread get them."

(I should point out here that I have nothing against the Scots or Scotland, but rather the small-mindedness and idiocy of the views of some.)
